The evolution of train control systems

7 December 2021
2:00 pm
San Ponziano Complex - Conference Room

Railway is undergoing a deep technological and organisational transformation since the beginning of this century, of which the most known witness is the wide diffusion of high speed connections. This evolution, not at all confined to high speed trains, has been supported by important advancements of ICT technologies behind, especially for what concerns train control systems. The transfer of the traditional strict safety culture of the railway domain to such innovations has been, and still is, a challenge. In this seminar some of the main issues raised at this regard will be discussed, describing current trends in train control systems and discussing the research issues that can bring to further innovations in the next (and less next) future
