Governing bodies and committees

The governance of the IMT School is divided into various bodies and committees, each with specific functions to ensure effective institutional management. These bodies oversee academic, administrative and strategic activities, ensuring transparency, quality and innovation in research and education.

  • Prof. Lorenzo Casini has been the Rector of the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca since November 1, 2024, and is a Full Professor of Administrative Law.

  • The Board of Governors is the School’s governing body and is responsible for the planning and allocation of all resources and for the financial sustainability of the School.

  • The Academic Senate provides opinions regarding the educational programmes and research.

  • The Assessment Board evaluates the administrative management, teaching and research activities, right to study initiatives, and verifies, potentially employing comparative return on investment analyses, the correct use of public resources, research and teaching productivity.

  • The International Advisory Board is an advisory body that issues opinions regarding teaching and research, as well as the Three-Year Plan.

  • The Quality Enhancement Committee coordinates the Quality Assurance (QA) activities and the promotion of the quality culture throughout the community.

  • The Central Guarantee Committee, focused on ensuring the wellbeing of workers, eliminating discrimination and providing equal opportunities in the workplace, was established pursuant to Article 57 of Legislative Decree 165/2001, as amended by Article 21 of Law no. 183/2010 and in accordance with Article 23 of the School Statute.

  • The Disciplinary Committee is entrusted with carrying out the preliminary phase of the disciplinary procedures of the IMT School faculty and must express a final binding opinion on the matter.

  • The Joint Students and Teachers Board (in Italian “Commissione Paritetica Docenti-Studenti” or CPDS) is established, pursuant to Article 2, paragraph 2, point g) of Law 240/2010.

  • The Advisory Committee performs consultative functions concerning statutory amendments related to the nature and objectives of the IMT School, as well as the use of spaces made available by public or private entities.

  • Vice Rectors and Delegates are appointed by the Rector from among the School’s faculty members. They are responsible for both general and specific areas and report directly to the Rector, who assumes responsibility for their work in relation to the assigned duties.
