San Francesco - Via della Quarquonia 1 (Conference Room - Cappella Guinigi)
Global System Studies are providing non trivial tools to interpret the reality surrounding us.
In order to provide viable models embedding different features and properties of the phenomenon at hand, different knowledge has to merge harmonically: from mathematical modelling, to statistics, to computer science and engineering.
Such an ambitious task cannot be achieved without experts on High Performance Computing. An unprecedented computational power is nowadays in the hands of researchers who need to focus on specific questions that cannot be addressed otherwise.
The natural common ground of the two activities described above is the fast developing area of studies on Synthetic Populations. From partial information, the ingredients of the models should be reconstructed. Different paradigms (from the modelling point of view) and technologies (from the hardware point of view) are implemented, but still a comprehensive vision is lacking.
This conference wants to consolidate the emerging community of scientists and practitioners in this area and wants to contribute to the ongoing discussion from both the modelling and the computer science point of view.
