Audiovisual Archives

As a researcher in the field of audiovisual restoration, my research focuses on European policies of access and conservation for audiovisual media. Considering these issues with a media studies point of view, this research aims at deepening the issues of cultural memory through the moving images and the institutional role of audiovisual archives, according to an interdisciplinary approach. Audiovisual heritage is certainly part of a wider issue concerning the role of culture and media institutions as keepers of political identities, but archival institutions built up a networked conceptualisation of visual memory. Indeed audiovisual heritage in Europe developed media discourses as a transnational dialogue and hybrid cultural form.
