A Regional Perspective of Family Firms. Evidence from Europe

9 December 2020
2:00 pm

The aim of this presentation is to provide preliminary empirical evidence about the prevalence of family firms across European countries and regions and the relationship between family firm and the regional context. We will explore two research questions: why family firms are unevenly distributed across countries and regions and to what extent this uneven distribution is related to the formal and informal institutional context where family firms dwell? We use two firm-level databases to analyze listed and non-listed firms: 1) manufacturing firms in seven European countries and 2) the largest 600 listed companies in 19 European countries.
