The impact of a delayed auditory onset on the neural encoding of speech signals

1 Research Collaborator position
(Deadline January 8th, 2020 12:00 )
Fields

Electroencephalography, Neural Plasticity, Sensory Deprivation, Language

Activity
The candidate is expected to perform research activity at the IMT School and at other institutes (other collaborating Universities and Hospitals) to create new experimental paradigms, to perform data collection and data analysis as well as to prepare manuscripts.
The candidate will be part of the MoMiLab Unit, the Cognitive Neuroscience community of IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (on average 9 PhD positions are available each year), under the supervision of Dr. Davide Bottari. National and international collaborations will integrate the research team.
Profile

The ideal candidate should possess:

1) PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience or related fields;
2) A strong interest in sensory processing, neural plasticity and development;
3) Good record of research experience and research outcomes related to field of this position;
4) Experience with Electroencephalography (EEG): data recording and data analysis;
5) Experience with advance analysis of EEG data sets is preferred. In particular the candidate should be able to conduct EEG/MEG data analysis (as for instance analysis of oscillatory activity, e.g. time Frequency decomposition) and/or analysis implying multivariate techniques (e.g.Temporal Response Functions);
6) Good programming skills;
7) Skills related to Auditory and Language processing represent a plus.
Formal requirements
  • A PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience or related fields;
  • An excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English.
Specific requirements
  • A good track record of research experience and outcomes related to the field of this position;
