If you are an EU or a non - EU student, you do need to apply for it.
It is free of charge.
You can contact the Campus Management and Front Office of the School (firstname.lastname@example.org), that will help you out with the application form filling and forward it to the local Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate).
