On October 15th, the European Commission published the Horizon 2020 calls for the next two-year period. For 2016-2017, 16 billion euros will be allocated for the financing of research and innovation projects.
For the Excellence in Science, the European Research Council has allocated 1,6 billion euros for financing brilliant researchers and their excellent frontier research.
For researchers' training and mobility, the available budget for the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (ITN, RISE, Individual Fellowships) is around 800 million euros for 2016 and a further 800 million euros for 2017.
The EC has also allocated a considerable budget for the Societal Challenges research fields, defining for each specific call the research topics to be addressed: from the "Key enabling technologies" funding, in primis ICT (around 500 million for 2016) to Health (around 350 million for 2016), from the funding of Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy (around 450 million for 2016) to the support of Smart and Green Transport (for 2016 around 450 million have been budgeted). Also for the "Societal Challenge" Europe in a changing word - inclusive, innovative and reflective societies, 100 million euros have been allocated for 2016.

Horizon 2020: pubblicati i nuovi bandi. Disponibili circa 16 miliardi di euro per il prossimo biennio per finanziare progetti di ricerca e innovazione
Lo scorso 15 ottobre la Commissione Europea ha pubblicato i nuovi bandi 2016-2017 di Horizon 2020. Per il prossimo biennio saranno disponibili circa 16 miliardi di euro per finanziare progetti di ricerca e innovazione.
Per l'eccellenza scientifica l'European Research Council (ERC) ha stanziato circa 1,6 miliardi di euro per il finanziamento di ricercatori brillanti e delle loro ricerche eccellenti e di frontiera.
Per la formazione e la mobilita' dei ricercatori il budget disponibile per le Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (ITN, RISE, Individual Fellowships) e' di circa 800 milioni per il 2016 e di ulteriori 800 milioni per il 2017.
La commissione ha poi stanziato budget importanti per tutti i campi della ricerca delle Societal Challenges definendo, per ogni call, i topic di ricerca da affrontare: si va dal finanziamento delle "Key enabling technologies", in primis l'ICT (circa 500 milioni di euro per il 2016) alla Salute (circa 350 milioni per il 2016), dal finanziamento dell'Energia Efficiente, pulita e sicura (circa 450 milioni per il 2016) al sostegno dei Trasporti smart e green (budget per il 2016 pari a circa 450 milioni). Anche per le Scienze umane, tematiche della "Societal Challenge" Europe in a changing word - inclusive, innovative and reflective societies, vengono stanziati circa 100 milioni di euro per il 2016.
