Assistant Prof. Armando Rungi appointed Economic Affairs Consultant by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development

27 ottobre 2015
UNCTAD, which is governed by its 194 member States, is the United Nations body responsible for dealing with development issues, particularly international trade, the main driver of development. Its work can be summed up in three words: think, debate, and deliver. Reflection on development is at the heart of UNCTAD's work. It produces innovative analyses that form the basis for recommendations to economic policymakers. The aim is to help them make informed decisions and promote the macroeconomic policies best suited to ending global economic inequalities and to generating people-centered sustainable development. Assistant Prof. Rungi will collaborate with the Division for Investment and Enterprise on drafting its flagship product, the annual World Investment Report for 2016. The Division is recognized as a global center of excellence on issues related to investment and enterprise for sustainable development. Rungi will provide expert advice on the analysis of firm-level data in order to understand the evolution of corporate governance in multinational enterprises, with a specific focus on developing countries. This may also prove to be an excellent opportunity for IMT PhD students, who could have the chance to cooperate throughout this project with their own research output. Armando Rungi is Assistant Prof. in Applied Economics, International Trade and Industrial Organization, working for the research unit AXES Laboratory for the Analysis of Complex Economic Systems at IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca.
