Alessandro Belmonte is an Assistant Professor of Economics. His main research interest is political economy and public economics, and the behavioral aspects of political mechanisms -- such as norms, attitudes, and beliefs, from both an analytic, empirical, and historical perspective. He is also interested in educational economics and in the frictions that generate inequalities among Italian students.
Before joining IMT, Alessandro served as an applied econometrician at INVALSI (Istituto Nazionale per la Valutazione del Sistema Educativo di Istruzione e di Formazione).
His research has been covered by the main Italian newspapers (La Stampa, Il Sole 24 Ore, Le Scienze) and implemented to reorganize the distribution of the pre-primary schools in the first Municipio in Rome.
