

Federico is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. His research explores the effects of large-scale economic and health shocks on international trade and innovation. He explores causal machine learning methods to analyze how firms respond heterogeneously to systemic shocks, and studies pharmaceutical markets with a focus on pricing strategies and innovation incentives using structural demand models and regulatory variation. His work aims to balance methodological rigor with applied relevance, contributing to the fields of health economics, international trade, and industrial organization.
Before joining IMT, Federico was a postdoctoral researcher at Bocconi University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics, Networks, and Business Analytics from IMT Lucca, and earlier degrees from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the University of Pisa.
In 2024, he was a Visiting Scholar at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
