Profile

The IMT School for Advanced Studies is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to participate in a multidisciplinary research project aimed at the creation, organization, analysis, and management of a database containing verbal reports of dreams and complementary psychometric, cognitive, and electrophysiological data. Given these premises, the ideal candidate should have good programming skills and experience in database management.

Activity

The appointed candidate will contribute to a research project aiming at creating a large database of verbal reports of conscious experiences collected from healthy adult individuals. The database will be used as a reference for future research. In particular, the candidate is expected to: contribute to the recruitment and screening of volunteers by administering and processing standardized questionnaires; participate in the management, processing and storage of data in accordance with ethical guidelines; contribute to the extraction of quantitative variables from collected data by means of semi-automatic or automatic procedures; contribute to the implementation and management of a web-based application for the large-scale collection of verbal reports of subjective experiences occurring during sleep; study new data analysis techniques for the definition of a machine learning algorithm, which will be developed in order to decode the most frequent behavior described in the data.

Formal requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent qualification obtained abroad (preferably obtained in the last two years);
  • Knowledge of Java and SQL programming languages;
  • Good knowledge of both written and spoken English.
Specific requirements
  • Experience in multi-agent simulation of biological systems models;
  • Ability to work both independently and within a research group.
