Activity

The appointed candidate will develop her/his research within the project Borghi, paesi, aree interne: infrastrutture, sostenibilità, qualità della vita, based on a partnership between IMT School and GSSI L’Aquila, which aims at improving the connectivity of inner areas. The project is focused, as far as IMT is concerned, on the internal area of Garfagnana. Together with other team members, the appointed candidate will map digital, cultural, social, and connectivity infrastructures in that territory, through both on line analysis and on site visits. 
Based on a strong interdisciplinarity, the project aims at analyzing the management of cultural heritage in inner areas. In particular, as far as this section of the project is concerned, it deals with cultural heritage management analysis, i.e. public policies on cultural heritage, relationship between public and private actors, relationships among small centers and capital cities, virtual and real connectivity infrastructures, new technologies' role in public administration and institutions.
Within the broader frame of IMT and Lynx research unit research programs, the appointed candidate is required to foster collaboration among different academic fields, i.e. archaeology, art history, museology, management of cultural heritage, analysis of the public in cultural institutions, tourism and creative industries. The appointed candidate has to delve into IMT's research activities and in particular those projects concerning cultural heritage.
The appointed candidate could participate both in the AMCH track seminars and Lynx research activities.

Profile

The appointed candidate, holding a master degree on cultural heritage studies, must have a solid background in archaeology and art history, museology, and the management of cultural heritage. Basic principles of network analysis, museum and institutions newtorks, and information technologies applied to cultural heritage are also required.
Moreover, the candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of the state of the art  and methods in the management of cultural heritage.
Committee will evaluate candidate's publications, participations in seminars, research groups and conferences.

Formal requirements
  • Master's degree in cultural heritage or related areas;
  • An excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
Specific requirements
  • The title of PhD is a preferential requirement.

A Selection Committee, appointed by the Director, assesses all applications on the basis online application info and - if provided - reference letters.Shortlisted candidates, selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis, are invited for a research presentation at IMT. Travel expenses to Lucca for theresearch presentation interview will not be reimbursed.

The evaluation criteria are based on: Quality of research activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and references; Research organization experience and participation in international/national research projects and research periods in public and private institutions (academic and non-academic);Relevance of the candidate's profile for the development of IMT's research activities; Teaching, mentoring and supervision experience; Motivation; Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; As well as any other requirements as specified in the advertisement.
