Irene Crimaldi


Irene Crimaldi is tenured Assistant Professor ("Ricercatore universitario di ruolo confermato" and "Professore aggregato") of Probability and Mathematical Statistics at the IMT Institute for Advanced Studies, Lucca, Italy. Moreover, she is a member of the Scientific Board of the IMT PhD program and the Delegate of the IMT Director for the coordination of the PhD activities and of the international mobility programs for the students. On February 10, 2014 she achieved the Italian qualification ("abilitazione scientifica nazionale") for the position of Associate Professor of Statistics.
In 2006-2011 she was with the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bologna.
She graduated cum laude in Mathematics from the University of Pisa and she got her PhD in Financial Mathematics (grade: 70/70 cum laude) from the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa). She won "Bruno de Finetti" prize (2001), awarded by the "Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei" (Rome). She held a scholarship from the "Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica" at the University of Milano-Bicocca, an internship with the Risk Management area of the "Monte dei Paschi di Siena" bank, a fellowship from the Department of Applied Mathematics of the University of Pisa and a postdoctoral position at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bologna. In 2007 she was a visiting scholar for a month at the Institut Galilée of the University of Paris 13. 

Her research interests are in the field of Probability and Statistics, with applications in Economics, Computer Science and Engineering.
