Seals and power in Sultan Husayn Bayqara's court

On March 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Sagrestia, the Scuola IMT will host the seminar “Seals and Power in Sultan Husayn Bayqara's Court” in Sagrestia (with the possibility to attend both in person and remotely).

The lecture will be delivered by Masuma Nazari and will explore officials, administrative ranks, and power relations in the late fifteenth-century court of Sultan Husayn Bayqara. Through an analysis of Bayqara’s decrees, the study sheds new light on the political and institutional dynamics of the Timurid court in Herat, offering valuable insights into governance, authority, and documentary practices in the Persianate world.

The event will be held in English and is addressed to university students, PhD candidates, researchers, faculty members, technical and administrative staff, and interested citizens.
