Afghan women today: Masuma Nazari at IMT
What is the situation of Afghan women under the Taliban since they regained power in August 2021? This was the topic at the centre of the webinar "Between Silence and Survival: Afghan Women's Voices through my Journey", one of the events organised as part of the Educating Future Citizens (EFC) project, held today, November 26, at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca.
The webinar focused on the testimony of Masuma Nazari, EFC Visiting Professor at IMT and former director of the State Archives in Kabul. Born in Afghanistan, then migrated to Iran and finally forced into exile in Italy due to the return of the Taliban, Nazari recounted her experience. She explained the restrictions and difficulties that Afghan women face today, both those who have remained in their country and those who, like her, have been forced to flee and live in exile.
Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca is a member of the EFC - Educating Future Citizens network so IMT Community have the opportunity to participate in joint activities and are encouraged to engage with partner institutions to foster academic and research collaborations.
