The track in Museum Studies is dedicated to museums and museum studies. Based on an institutional partnership between IMT and some of the most relevant Italian museums and cultural institutions (Museo Egizio di Torino, Galleria Nazionale di Urbino, Museo Nazionale Romano, Parco archeologico di Pompei, Direzione Generale dei Musei), the track proposes course on public engagement, cataloguing methods, museum management, museum visitors. PhD research will be developed in strong connection with the members of the above mentioned partnership.
Input and Output Profiles
The track aims at providing specific know-hows to prospective professionals operating in the fields of museums, providing a deep knowledge on curatorship. Prospective students should preferably have an undergraduate background in the Social Sciences, the Humanities (i.e. Archaeology and Art History), but it is open to other type of background (management of cultural heritage).
