Three documentaries by Internazionale at the IMT School
"Mondovisioni", the documentary screening tour organised by Internazionale and CineAgenzia, is coming to the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. Created to promote documentaries from major festivals around the world, "Mondovisioni" will be in Lucca this year thanks to an initiative by the IMT School in collaboration with the "Circolo della Stampa di Lucca" (Lucca Press Club).
Now in its 17th edition, Mondovisioni has been tackling the complexity of our times by addressing some of the most urgent issues of today, including human rights, information and freedom of expression. The initiative, which also involved the CUG (Single Guarantee Committee) of the IMT School, is part of the School’s activities for the general public, with particular attention to gender issues and equal opportunities.
The screening cycle will begin on 11 February, on International Day of Women and Girls in Science, with the director Eloise King's documentary “The Shadow Scholars”. The film tells the story of Patricia Kingori, a professor at Oxford University who, intrigued by the multi-billion industry of "fake academic papers", enters the world of "shadow scholars".
The second screening will take place on 13 April with "The Life That Remains" by Tunisian director and actress Dorra Zarrouk. The documentary explores the journey of a Palestinian family who fled Gaza for Egypt three months after the war began on 7 October 2023.
The third and final screening will be on 8 June with "The Dialogue Police" by Swedish director Susanna Edwards. The documentary tackles the sensitive issue of freedom of expression and its limits by following in the footsteps of the "Dialogue Police", a special police unit based in Stockholm created to safeguard freedom of expression and the right to assemble in public spaces to protest.
Each screening will be preceded by a short introductory video in Italian, produced by Internazionale journalists Francesca Sibani, Francesca Gnetti, and Stefania Mascetti. Viewing of “The Life That Remains” and “The Dialogue Police” is recommended for audiences aged 14 and over.
All screenings will be held in the Guinigi Chapel of the San Francesco Complex at 6 PM. The documentaries are in their original language with Italian subtitles. Admission is free, subject to availability.
