Knowledge transfer, managerial innovation and improvements to public services, with a view to enhancing the city of Lucca’s reputation for excellence in terms of its appeal to tourists, the quality of its infrastructure and the services supporting advanced education and research in Lucca.

These are the objectives of the framework agreement signed between the IMT School and Lucca Plus, the company owned by the Municipality of Lucca that manages the city’s transport, parking and tourist reception services. The agreement, which will run for three years, was signed by the rector of the IMT School, Lorenzo Casini, and the director of Lucca Plus, Roberto Di Grazia.

By combining their respective areas of expertise and harnessing the synergy between scientific research and the management of public and cultural services, the partnership between the IMT School and Lucca Plus will lead to studies and research into the economic impact of tourism, training sessions delivered by IMT School lecturers for Lucca Plus staff, and research into how visitors interact with Lucca’s monuments in order to improve their accessibility and user-friendliness.

Plans also include testing new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality, to enhance the visitor experience of the city’s cultural heritage sites; implementing sustainable management models for tourist flows; and optimising the analysis of visitor flows and parking areas during special and major events such as Lucca Comics & Games, the Lucca Summer Festival and others.
