Developing technical, operational and managerial skills for managing training processes with strategic, innovative and functional approaches, activating transformation and change in educational organisations. This is the aim of the advanced training master's degree course “Light leadership and innovation in educational and training organisations”. Now in its fourth edition, the master's programme will begin in March 2026: enrolment is open until 22 February 2026.

"In a constantly changing school environment, our master’s programme aims to provide tools to promote an organisational paradigm shift", explains Ennio Bilancini, full professor of Economics at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca and scientific coordinator of the master’s programme. "Through behavioural economics concepts such as "nudging", "boosting" and "game-based learning", it is possible to stimulate changes that make school organisations more streamlined and functional, and teachers, learners and staff more motivated, reducing the use of reward and punishment mechanisms".

Marco Orsi, president of the "Senza Zaino Foundation" and lecturer on the master's programme, emphasises that “the training programme promotes a global vision where teaching is linked to organisation and teaching to management, overcoming the divide that is no longer sustainable in school and training environments.  In this perspective, it is important to promote schools that are truly communities of thought, mind, practice and heart”.

The advanced training course is designed for school administrators, teachers with coordinating roles, and training programme coordinators. The master's programme consists of an intensive 40-hour in-person course, divided into three weekends, and 10 hours of online tutoring. The topics covered in the teaching modules are: “Light leadership between educational and organisational innovation”, “Gentle push and human and artificial intelligence”, “The tools of light leadership management”, “Designing the learning environment for educational success”, “Leadership, mind and intelligence” and “Light leadership and the educational community”.

The master's programme is promoted by the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca in collaboration with the Senza Zaino Foundation, the training agencies Per-corso and Soecoforma, and with the support of the National Association of School Principals (ANDIS), the IX School Office of Lucca and Massa Carrara, and the Senza Zaino Association.
