Angelo Bifone

Angelo Bifone graduated from the University of Rome with a degree in Physics, and obtained a PhD from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Bologna.  He conducted postdoctoral research in Berkeley (California) and in Leiden (The Netherlands), and was a lecturer at the Institute of Cancer Research in London from 1995 to 2001.  For 9 years he directed the Neuroimaging Department of the Glaxo Smith Kline research centre in Verona, where he conducted pre-clinical and clinical research in the area of neuroscience. Currently, he is Director of the Nanomedicine Division of the Italian Institute of Technology at NEST.


His research interests are focused on Magnetic Resonance and other imaging modalities, with an emphasis on medical and biological applications. Specific topics of interest include:
• development of novel imaging agents for improved medical diagnostics;
• functional and pharmacological MRI for the study of brain structure and function;
• analysis of biomedical images, with particular reference to graph-analysis of correlated signals in image time-series.
