Carlo Cambini


Carlo Cambini was born in Livorno in 1971. He graduated in 1994 from the University of Pisa. In 1998, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Public Economics from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa). He was Visiting Researcher at the Institut d’Economie Industrielle (IDEI) at the University of Toulouse (1998/1999), where he worked under the supervision of Prof. J.J. Laffont.

Currently he is Associate Professor in Industrial Organization in Politecnico di Torino (since 2002). He is also Economic Advisory Member of Fondazione Ugo Bordoni (private institution linked with the Italian Ministry of Communications).

In 2000 he earned the international award as Best Young Economist at the international meeting of the European Association of Researcher in Industrial Economics (Losanna CH 2000) for the paper "Competition between Vertically Integrated Networks".

He specializes in Industrial Organization and Policy, Competition Policy and Regulation, Special focus on the Economics of Public Utilities in general and Economics of Telecommunications.

He has published in several leading international journals in Industrial Organization, such as the RAND Journal of Economics, the Journal of Industrial Economics and the Review of Industrial Organization, and he is the author of two books on the economics of telecommunications.
