Ph.D. Students' Duties and Rights:

Ph.D. students at IMT must meet the highest standards of scholarship.

IMT is a community of scholars engaged in ongoing research, discussion and scholarly exchange. Students are expected to stay on campus.

Doctoral students must attend each educational activity and carry out continuous study and research activity within IMT. In case of a negative evaluation from the Ph.D. Program Scientific Board, students may be expelled from the Ph.D. program.

Ph.D. Students are encouraged to carry out internships, educational and research activities off-campus.

In order to be granted a Ph.D. degree, doctoral students must successfully prepare and present an oral defense of a doctoral dissertation that demonstrates that the candidate has achieved technical mastery of his or her field and is capable of doing independent research, and that enlarges or modifies previous knowledge of the topic or presents a significant new interpretation of previous knowledge, theories or studies.
