Through an interdisciplinary approach, the doctoral program provides students with a strong theoretical background and analytical skills while examining issues in political economy, applied public economics, the functioning of industries and markets, the analysis of complex economic systems, and the impact of macroeconomic variables on productivity and growth.
A distinctive characteristic of the Ph.D. program is the strong integration of theoretical, technical and practical expertise, to educate highly qualified professionals adept at analyzing, devising and implementing economic policy.
Throughout the Ph.D. program, theoretical methodologies and models are tested through the methodical and systematic investigation of actual cases. At the end of the graduate program, students will be able to discern both commonalities as well as the unique characteristics of markets, with particular reference to economic laws, market regulation.
The doctoral program in Economics, Markets, Institutions prepares graduates for professional and academic careers in the national, international and European job markets in public and private agencies and institutions analyzing economic policy, public finance, financial markets and economic reform; in the consultancy industry; with sectorial or national authorities and governmental institutions; and in big enterprises and business.
