Ph.D. General Information:

Abstract

The program aims at dealing with issues in political economy, applied public economics, the functioning of industries and markets, the impact of macroeconomics on productivity and growth.

A distinctive feature of the PhD program is the strong integration of theoretical, technical and practical expertise, aimed to educate highly qualified professionals, who analyze, plan, and manage concrete interventions of political economy.

Theoretical methodologies and models are tested through the methodical/systematic investigation of real world cases. At the end of the program, students are able to identify commonalities as well as distinctive characters of economies, markets, and industries.

Research areas

With its interdisciplinary (theoretical, quantitative and institutional) approach, the program aims at dealing with issues in political economy, applied public economics, and the functioning of industries and markets, the impact of macroeconomic impact on the functioning of markets, as well as on productivity and growth.

A distinctive characteristic of the PhD program is the strong integration of theoretical, technical and practical expertise, aimed to educate highly qualified professionals, who analyze, plan, and manage concrete interventions of political economy.

Theoretical methodologies and models will therefore tested through the methodical/systematic investigation of actual cases. At the end of the program, students will be able to catch commonalities as well as distinctive characters of the several markets, in reference to economic laws, market regulations, contractual, managing and organizational solutions.

The main job opportunities are c/o national and international, public and private agencies and institutions analyzing political economics, public finance, market analysis and evaluation of the reforms’ impact on the economic system; consultancy societies, sectoral or national authorities, big enterprises, national institutions (Ministries, Local Authorities) and EC institutions; national and international universities.
