Ph.D. Programs 2011 call (XXVI cycle)

Ph.D. Program in Computer Science and Engineering / CSE

Ph.D. Organization:

Ph.D. programs at IMT are a natural outgrowth of the Research Areas of the institute and are taught in English.

Each doctoral program has a minimum duration of three years, which includes off-campus study periods, internships and research in Italy or abroad, at public and/or private companies and institutions. The standard time for degree completion ranges from three to four years.

Students play an active role within the institute's research projects; they are encouraged to take a creative approach to problem solving.

The Ph.D. program is divided into three periods:
  • An initial period of 4 terms: dedicated to in-depth study through taught courses and seminars, in conjunction with research activity. Students have the opportunity to explore the research fields they will focus on in the for the final years of the doctoral program;
  • study/research year abroad: dedicated to the completion of the course of study and to research activity, carried out mainly off-campus, in international universities and research centers. This period is focused on data gathering and analysis, and students are expected to submit regular reports on the progress of their research;
  • final semester: students finalize their research projects and write their theses.
