Nicola Lattanzi received his master's degree in Economy and Business in 1988 and his Ph.D. in Management and Business Administration in 1995 from the University of Pisa, Italy. In 1993-1994 he was as Ph.D. Student with the Institut für Betriebswirtschaftslehre der Universität Bochum, Germany. In 1995-1996 he held a teaching position at the Faculty of Economics, University of Macerata where he collaborated as a researcher. In 1999-2001 he was researcher with the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pisa, Italy, becoming an associate professor of Management and Business administration in 2001. In 2002-2007 he was with the Italian Military Naval Academy in Livorno teaching the basic course of Business Administration. Since 2017 he is full professor at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, Italy, where he teaches Business Strategy and Management for Complex Systems and he serves the School as Delegate for Innovation and Relations with Institutions and Enterprises. He took part in the foundation of the Innovation Center Lab on Neuroscience applied to banking at IMT School.
He served, as a consultant, domestic and foreign business families, private financial companies (private banks and family offices) and public institutions. In the 1988 - 1989 he served as army complement officer, Guardia di Finanza, Genova; 1990 - 1991 as consultant in bank and finance for Arthur Andersen Company, Milano; 2004 - 2009 as Member of the Board of Bank of Italy, Lucca; 2007-2010 as President of Tuscan Industrial Marble Cluster; 2009 - 2011 as Vice President delegate for Education of Lucca Industrial Association; 2010 - 2011 as Member of the Board of Tuscany Industrial Association; 2013 - 2016 as Member of the Board and Vice President of SICI SGR, Firenze; 2014 - 2016 as President of Gaia S.p.A. Public Company for water service and distribution; 2014 - 2018 as Member of the Board of Intesa San Paolo – Cr Pistoia e Lucchesia; 2013-2016, Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), as Member of the Scientific Committee, Firenze.
Nicola Lattanzi has more than 80 publications (including articles, chapters of books and 14 books) in the areas of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and Family Business Strategy, Business Performance and Analysing, Managerial and Entrepreneurial Behavior, Business Simulation. Nicola Lattanzi was teaching the course “Advanced Business Administration” at the University of Pisa, Faculty of Economics in 2001-2016; in 2005 -2008 Planning and Control at the University of Pisa. From 2010 to 2017 he was regularly teaching the course “Strategy and governance for Family Business” at the University of Pisa. From 2007-to 2010 he has been Scientific Director of the High Master “Management for Family Business” at the University of Pisa. He is currently teaching 3 PhD courses at IMT Lucca: "Firms, business analytics and managerial behavior", "Strategy and Business behavior", "Business model for emerging markets".
Nicola Lattanzi has supervised many postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. students, visiting students, research collaborators, and many master thesis students. He was member of the board of the Ph.D. in Management and Business Administration at the University of Pisa and member of Ph.D. committees in different universities.
