Luca Anchora

Currently, I work as a computer engineer at the Bank of Italy in Rome. I was hired in July 2012. I care of computer networks and system administration.

Before joing the Bank of Italy, I spent 3 months as a PostDoc at the University of Padova (Italy) working in the SIGNET Lab under the supervision of Dr. Leonardo Badia and prof. Michele Zorzi. The focus of my work was on techniques for spectrum sharing in wireless networks. I also carried on some research on Wireless Sensor Networks together with Dr. Luigi Patrono of the University of Salento, Lecce (Italy).

I got my Ph.D. at IMT Alti Studi Lucca in CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) in March 2012 discussing the thesis with title "Spectrum sharing in mobile cellular networks: an alternative approach for efficient resource utilization". The supervisor was Dr. Leonardo Badia.

I am a computer engineer with specialization in computer networks, both research and design. I have worked on

  • FEC (Forward Error Correction) schemes,
  • MANETs (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks),
  • VANETs (Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks),
  • WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks),
  • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) systems,
  • LTE networks.
  • simulation tools (ns-2, ns-3, OMNET++).

In particular, I worked on:

  • game theory applied to communication networks;
  • spectrum sharing in wireless communication networks;
  • resource allocation in OFDMA networks;
  • energy-efficient wireless sensor networks;
  • simulation support for the validation of spectrum sharing algorithms.

From September 2010 to February 2011, I spent a 6 month visiting period in Linköping (Sweden) at the Linköping University (LiU), Communication System Division (CommSys), http://www.commsys.isy.liu.se. There, I worked on game theory for resource allocation in wireless networks and on resource sharing among cellular network operators.
