Advanced data analysis of electrophysiological data

1 Research Project Grant position
(Deadline October 25th, 2019 12:00 )
Fields

Electroencephalography, Analysis of in Time and Frequency domain, Temporal Response Function, Sensory processing, Sensory deprivation

Activity
The candidate will finalize an experimental protocol, which comprise the presentation of auditory and visual stimuli. The population of interest will include sensory deprived individuals.
The candidate is supposed to collect EEG data of about 30 participants using the EGI system, which is available at the IMT School. Moreover, the candidate is supposed to prepare and share with the PI and with PhD students a data analysis pipeline aimed to comprise multivariate Temporal Response Function approach. Depending on the success of the recordings and analysis strategy, the data might be analyzed and results shared with the international community.
Profile
The candidate should possess:
  • Experience with the acquisition of Electroencephalogram (EEG) recording;
  • Experience with advanced analysis of EEG data sets. In particular, the candidate should be able to conduct analysis both in the time domain (as for instance Time Frequency profiles of oscillatory activity) and in the frequency domain (as for instance the analysis of Steady State responses). Moreover, the candidate should be able to conduct data analysis implying multivariate techniques (including encoding and decoding models and, in general, assessing Temporal Response Functions);
  • Experience with the topic of sensory deprivation and neural plasticity.

  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
Specific requirements
  • Skills related to language processing;
